Join SIOP in Boston!

The International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) is returning to the United States for the first time in 17 years! Please join us in Boston, Massachusetts, for the 42nd Annual Congress, October 21-24, 2010.

Lisa Diller

Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends,

The theme of this year’s meeting, “Promoting International Collaboration in Pediatric Oncology,” represents SIOP’s mission of improving the global exchange of information and good practice in pediatric oncology. Dana-Farber/Children’s Hospital Cancer Care is honored to host this esteemed event in Boston, a special place in the history of pediatric cancer treatment.

Dr. Sidney Farber, while a pediatric pathologist at Children’s Hospital Boston, pioneered the development of chemotherapy and later founded Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. His break-through efforts in treating childhood leukemia set the stage for the evolution of the field internationally. In recognition of Dr. Farber’s advances and those which have followed, our state-of-the-art symposium on October 21 will focus on acute lymphoblastic leukemia and feature the expertise of Boston’s scientific community along with experts from around the world.

During your stay in Boston, be sure to take advantage of the many opportunities the city has to offer. This New England destination provides a unique blend of academic life, sophistication and diversity. I also invite you to come enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage and explore the city’s rich history by visiting its plethora of attractions.

From Boston, you can easily visit some of New England’s most scenic areas, including Cape Cod and the Coast of Maine, as well as visit many other great American cities, including New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

There’s no better opportunity for you to join your peers in learning about current research on treatments and practices eradicating pediatric cancers. Join us in Boston October 21-24, 2010, for an enlightening and unforgettable experience.

Sincerely,

Lisa Diller, M.D.
